Milk feeding

In suckling calves, it is the calf's mother who provides nutrition through her milk production and udder. The mother cow must receive a balanced ration to cover her milk production as well as her own maintenance and reproductive needs.

In the rearing of the Belgian Blue breed, a different feeding method is used: individual rearing using a bucket or a calf feeder.

Our philosophy for the milk feeding period rests on four objectives:

  1. Preventing digestive disorders.

  2. Optimising growth.

  3. Stimulating rumen development.

  4. Preparing for weaning.
