Optimise your milk production and profitability
The price of milk is constantly fluctuating. Market prices are mainly influenced by global production, as well as trade in milk and milk derivatives, which are, in turn, correlated with consumption demand. It is essential to understand and have a hold on both your financial and technical performance to make a profit on your business. An important step towards achieving this is by calculating your feed balance. To help you make this calculation, we have integrated a series of parameters into our feed rationing schedule that will help guide you towards maximum profitability. The focus here is on achieving profitable milk production. In simple terms, we arrive at the feed balance by calculating the difference between the milk yield and feed costs.
Our main focus is on optimising both milk production and the nutritional components of the milk. Milk yields have the greatest effect on the feed balance equation. The foundation for high milk production lies in healthy rumen function. To assess this, we consider several aspects. What do the cows and the feeding signals have to say? Is selection possible? What we observe in the stalls and at the silage pits forms the basis of our advice. The data is also included within the advice. Ration composition and the cost of rations are also considered. Which feed materials are available on your farm? And how can we make the most of your own roughage material? Which by-products and concentrated feeds are currently of interest? Using this method, we aim to offer advice that is both appropriate and feasible for your farm.
How can we help you make fattening your livestock more profitable?
For over ten years, the Arvesta Group has been monitoring the performance of Belgian Blue bulls (BWB) at its research centres in Aat and Sart-Saint-Laurent. Over 15,000 tests were carried out on BWB bulls:
Periodic individual weighing to determine average daily gain (ADG).
Average daily intake per lot to calculate feed efficiency (CI).
We have developed an economic simulator based on the calculated rations (VEVI, PBT, and mg/kg DS), price of the rations (euro/kg of DS), and net carcass price (euro/kg carcass). This simulator provides farmers with the following information:
Average daily gain (ADG)
Feed efficiency (CI)
Feed costs per period
Total feed costs
Gross income based on feed costs
Gross margin on feed per kg growth
Throughout the entire fattening period or three different periods:
Breeding period | Growth period | Finishing period |
---|---|---|
Between 120 and 280 kg | Between 280 and 500 kg | Between 500 and 700 kg |
Optimise your pig farm’s efficiency
Profitability in pig farming depends on a number of technical and financial parameters. In terms of income, you are dependent on the market price for a piglet and/or finishing pig. In terms of variable costs, the cost of feed is the most important parameter affecting profitability.
At Proxani, we work with you to achieve the highest possible return on your hard work by giving you the best advice and preparing an optimal feeding schedule for your pigs.
Our experts will help you assess both your technical and financial performance on a regular basis. At pig farms, production numbers and feed conversion are the most important key figures affecting your farm’s level of profitability.
By combining a calculation tool with our expert knowledge, we are able to help you maximise the profitability of your farm.
