Heat stress costs money — with Omnigen AF® you can reduce the negative effects of heat stress

30/04/2026Milk Cattle > Rentability
The first warm days of the year are already behind us, along with the first moments of heat stress in the barn. On humid days, heat stress can start as early as 20°C. Average economic losses are estimated at 270 euros per cow per year (St-Pierre et al., 2003).

The impact is immediately visible in your barn

  • Decrease in DMI → less milk

  • Higher respiration rate, cows stand more and lie down less

  • Lower feed efficiency → higher cost per litre of milk

  • More health issues (higher risk of acidosis, hoof problems, etc.)

  • Increase in bulk tank somatic cell count

  • Lower DMI and more health problems lead to a more difficult transition and poorer fresh cow performance

What is Omnigen AF®?

OmniGen is a complementary feed that supports the cow’s natural immune system, especially during stressful periods such as heat, calving, treatments, regrouping or ration changes.

What does Omnigen AF® do?

OmniGen helps cows during heat stress by:

  • better maintaining DMI, supporting immunity and reducing stress responses

  • protecting fertility and reducing the risk of embryonic loss

  • helping to keep respiration rate and body temperature lower

  • stabilising milk production
